Dll Conflicts in Photo Locator:
Urlmon.dll, Ctl3d32.dll

Error 50003

Applies to: Photo Locator, all versions.
Last updated: Tuesday September 12, 2000.

In some installations, the following error messages will appear when Photolocator is installed.

SUMMARY

Message: Urlmon.dll not found:

In some instances, an error message will appear informing the user that the file Urlmon.dll was not found. This file is normally installed with Windows, but can be removed if Netscape or Internet Explorer are removed. If you receive this error, try reinstalling either of the web browsers. The dll will be restored.

Conflicts in Ctl3d32.dll:

In some instances, users will receive the following error message: "The application uses CTL3D32.dll, which is not the correct version. This version of Ctl3D32.dll is designed only for Windows NT systems." If you receive this error message, do the following:

PROCEDURE

  1. Close all programs
  2. Insert Photo Locator Disc 5 into the floppy drive
  3. Click Start, Run
  4. Browse the floppy, and select the file Fix_Ctl32.exe
  5. Select OK
  6. A dialog box will appear. Select Unzip (don't uncheck the 2 option boxes!)
  7. After the files are done extracting, close the window. Photo Locator will now run without displaying the dll error. It's a good idea to reboot the machine after running the utility.

In some cases, when the version 4.X update is installed, the following error message will appear:

    Error 50003

If you receive this message, then you need to do a full version 4.X installation. The program will terminate once the error message is displayed. Additional system files need to be installed in order for proper application of the program. To fix the problem, download the version 4.04 full installation (not the update) from this website, and run the installation. Be sure to reboot the computer prior to running the installation. The system files will be replaced, and you will no longer be presented with the error message.
